Create glossary rules

Use the Glossary page to define terminology rules that guide translation across the whole project.

A glossary rule tells Altified how a term should be handled. Add the source term, select the target language, and either provide the preferred translation or protect the term so it remains unchanged.

Use Source term for the word or phrase in your original content.
Use Preferred translation when a target language needs a specific wording.
Choose the target language the rule applies to.
Turn on Protected when brand names, product names, or legal terms should not be translated.
Turn on case-sensitive matching only when uppercase or lowercase changes the meaning.
Edit or delete glossary rules as product terminology changes.

Editor versus glossary

The translation editor changes one stored string. A glossary guides how terms are translated across many strings and future translation requests; it does not automatically rewrite translations that were already approved.
