Altified vs Linguise at a glance
| Capability | Altified | Linguise |
|---|---|---|
| Product type | SDK plus dashboard, installed in your Next.js codebase. | Automatic website translation service with plugins, a dashboard, and a front-end live editor. |
| Supported platforms | Next.js App Router (Next.js 15 or newer). A separate Django SDK translates configured model fields. There are no WordPress, Shopify, or site-builder plugins. | WordPress, Joomla, Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, Wix, Magento, Drupal, Laravel, Symfony, and other CMS platforms, plus PHP-based sites through its script. |
| Setup method | Install @altified/next and run altified init. It wraps your Next config, adds a locale-routing proxy file, and adds a sitemap of translated URLs. A developer reviews and deploys the change. | Install the CMS plugin or the PHP script and connect the site in the dashboard. Linguise offers free installation and says a site can be translated in about 15 minutes. |
| Translation workflow | Machine translation through Google Cloud Translation, with glossary rules and protected terms. Review, edit, and lock translations in the dashboard. There is no in-page visual editor and no human-translation ordering. | Cloud AI translation (Google Cloud AI) on every plan, with an LLM-based Linguise AI option. Translations update when content changes, and a live editor lets you edit text, links, and media per language. |
| URL structure | Locale-prefixed paths such as /fr/pricing, rendered by your own Next.js app. The default language can stay unprefixed. | Linguise's guides describe support for subdirectories, subdomains, and ccTLDs. The exact structure depends on the integration. |
| Metadata and hreflang | Static metadata exports are translated automatically. Helpers build self-referencing canonical URLs and reciprocal hreflang alternates, which you can inspect in your own HTML. | Linguise's guides say it adds hreflang tags automatically. Its live editor lets you edit meta information and SEO fields per language. |
| Developer effort | Needs a developer. Literal JSX text and source copy are translated automatically; database and API values must be translated explicitly by key or field. | Low on supported CMS platforms; a site owner can usually install it without code. |
| Pricing model | From $29/month for 50k words per month and 2 target languages, up to $199/month for 1M words and 20 languages. 14-day trial with 5,000 words; no free plan. | $15, $25, or $45 per month by translated words, with unlimited languages and page views. One website per plan; first month free on Start and Pro. |
| SEO controls | Routes, canonicals, noindex rules, sitemaps, and structured data stay in your code, so they can be reviewed and tested like any other change. | SEO fields are edited in the Linguise live editor; URL-based rules can exclude parts of a site from translation. |
The right choice depends on where your content lives, how it is delivered, and how much control your team needs over the localized experience.
Who each product is for
Linguise suits site owners on established CMS platforms who want many languages at a low, predictable price. Because every plan includes unlimited languages, adding a tenth language costs the same as adding a second; only the translated-word quota changes the price.
Altified suits development teams with a Next.js application. It assumes a developer will install the SDK, review the generated routing and sitemap files, and decide how database and API content should be translated.
How languages affect the cost
On Linguise, the number of languages does not change the plan. A site that needs many languages and has modest traffic may find Linguise considerably cheaper than any per-language plan.
On Altified, each plan has a target-language limit (2, 5, 10, or 20) and a monthly word allowance. Text is only registered for translation when a page is rendered in a language, so you are not charged for pages nobody visits in that language, but you can also request translations up front from the dashboard.

/ What this means for your stack
Your platform usually decides this one.
Linguise does not list a Next.js integration in its documentation, and Altified does not support CMS platforms. For most sites, that settles the choice before price or features come into it.
If you are rebuilding a CMS site in Next.js, compare the long-term trade-off: Linguise keeps translation outside your code at a low price with unlimited languages; Altified moves translation into your application, which costs more developer time and gives your team direct control over routes, metadata, and dynamic content.
/ Where Altified fits
Keep translation connected to the application that serves it.
Altified is the better fit when localized pages need to be rendered by your own frontend and backend, with dynamic records, application routes, and search metadata in the same delivery model.
/ Frequently asked questions

Does Altified support unlimited languages?
No. Altified plans include 2, 5, 10, or 20 target languages. Linguise includes unlimited languages on every plan.
